Sunrise, Snowy Peaks and Proximity

Thought we'd post a picture of our Christmas cake, baked by our Nanny, iced by Summer Louise Stewart (our human sis) and almost polished off already by our greedy humans!! We've managed to grab a few dropped crumbs and it is yummy, (thanks Nanny) but we prefer pilchard cake and would like it decorated with bunny poop pleeeeeease!!

We have been given an award by Ruby Isabella Jones all the way over in Brisbane, thanks Ruby!

The award states that "This blog invests and believes the PROXIMITY - nearness in space, time and relationships!" In other clearer words, "These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers! Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award."

The award was started in Portugal and because of it's meaning we are going to award it to some of our far away readers. (there are more than eight, but we're sure it doesn't matter!) Like Ruby, we think it's so cool that we can read about other people and their pets and interests all the way around the world, they are like hi-tech pen-pals!

All of the above are doggy blogs apart from the last two, Domino's blog is about his creator's beautiful paintings (though they do have two lovely Beagles called Ema and Salvador) and the Harty Family's blog is about their life in American Samoa, it has beautiful photographs and it's interesting and funny to read. If I have missed you it was only due to lack of space, please help yourself if you want the award!

Today is the Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year when people go to Stonehenge to watch the sun rise, I didn't quite manage Stonehenge but I did catch a sunrise. It is also the day we remember those who perished in the Lockerbie bombing which happened on this day 20 years ago.

This morning we (Alfie, Gabbi & Mum) set off early down the infamous A9 to go to a show near Glasgow, Gabbi got a 4th and Alfie a 3rd. We didn't get any show photos, though some might appear on the SBC website as Gary (SBC webmaster) was there snapping away! We got some nice sunrise shots on the way down and the mountains still have a little snow despite the rain! These were taken at the Drummochter Summit which is 462m above sea level, the temperature dropped a whopping 6 degrees C as we climbed! There's the most amazing view of the Drummochter Pass but it needs daylight to be appreciated....we'll do that another day. Sometimes you can make out the herds of red deer that graze here, if it's a really cold morning look out for stags by the side of the road!

The sunrise looks fab, almost makes up for having to drag yourself out of bed! You'll know that A9 like the back of your hand now.

Your mountains look lovely, especially with the snow on them.

Nice Christmas cake, our person hasn't made one for a few years. We thinks she has left it a bit late now though..hehe

you guys are so sweet about sharing awards! we're trying to keep these to a minimum on the blog (keeping it about the beach), but we VERY MUCH appreciate the sentiment. i realize i need to keep my eyes open for a beagle soon. it's been awhile since we've had one at the beach here.

Thanks for visiting my blog. Mom has to laugh when she saw where you were from. She and PlusOne were watching a show called Gargoyles and there was an episode about Macbeth and Castle Moray. Isn't that wild.
Nice to meet you all.

Thank you so much for this award. It really is a meaningful award because that is exactly what blogging has done for us. It has opened up a whole new world of pals whom we would never have met in real life. Thanks again!

My Dear Woofsters,

So, you've traveled over the Pond to visit lil' ol' me in the Big Ol' State of Texas (Which is, of course, A Whole 'Nother Country) ! Let me commend you on your good taste and keen discernment. A pixie-bob is one kind of mog, but a TEXAS Pixie-Bob is, well, STEP BACK!!

Did you know, my mom is an admirer of beagles. And of Scotland. So, I give you leave to visit me. AND I expect to hear from you OFTEN.

I'm just sayin'.

Oh, thank you so much for the award, guys!!

Would it be OK if my human came over to pick it up when she gets back home? Coz she says it's a bit difficult with travelling to get much computer time and so she can only do short things on my blog...

Thanks again so much!

Thank you so much for the award! You are such amazing furends, we are so happy we know you!

The cake your Nanny made is beWROOtiful, but I know I would prefer a cake decorated with bunny poop! If your Nanny makes one of those, please please please get lots of pictures! Wrooo!

We've seen the people at Stonehenge on television. My Nanny and Papa saw Stonehenge in person, but Papa is camera-challenged so they didn't get pictures, BOL.

And The Girl remembers the Lockerbie bombing; it made a huge impact on her (she was in high school at the time). I, of course, wasn't born yet.

What lovely pictures of the sunrise and Drummochter Summit with all the snow! We hope that the drop in temperature was moderated by the car heater! Wroo!

Brown dog kisses,
Dannan
