Dunes, another award and a Xmas card! (Gulp)

Today we went to Findhorn, but instead of going round the bay we went up the Dunes Road and headed into the Dunes area towards camp (RAF Kinloss). I haven't walked here for ages....despite it being quite an open and barren area there are plenty of Hare about, also there is a wooded area behind the Findhorn Foundation which has lots of Deer but there were no lengthy absences today!

The main footpath, which runs along the top of the dunes, is another segment of the Moray Coast Trail. Some parts of it (further along than where we were, behind the camp) have been eroded by weather and are a bit shaky underfoot, of course you can always walk on the beach if the tide's out!

There were rumours flying that Gary Glitter was living on the Foundation, lately the rumours are that he has been booted out of the community and is trying to buy a house in the area....hmm, not sure how much truth there is in this but it's quite worrying! The Foundation is an interesting place and some of the eco-houses in the community are beautiful. The coffee shop there does the most wonderful almond croissants, mmmm, though I haven't been in it for years!

Apart from the odd grass or gorse covered dune, it's just flat sand and pebbles, plenty of bunny biscuits to smell though!
There are a few wind turbines here, a baby one and three bigger ones.

Behind this field is the end of the runway and there's a footpath back to the Dunes Road, at least there used to be, today I planned to walk that way but came face to face with these horses in the field....they didn't used to live there! I turned tail and came back the way I came before the dogs saw them!
The bases of the three bigger turbines have been painted, enlarge the following photos to see them in detail, each has a theme with an environmental message and they really brighten up the whole area!
Another "sit, stay" practise, the lights in the background are RAF Kinloss.
Alfie tries to enlist, well I suppose he'd be good for clearing up in the mess!

Nearly at the beach, but it's getting too dark for photos.
Someone had built this "shelter" on the edge of the dune....Gabbi took real offence to it and barked at it for about ten minutes, Alfie joined in telling it off for a while but soon got bored!
Unlike Roseisle, the pillboxes and tank blocks here are underwater at high tide, great if you have kids who love rock pools, they support a huge variety of marine life, alot of which you can see at low tide and in the spring they are covered in baby barnacles, Alfie used to gnaw them off, they must taste good! There were some seabirds roosting on it when we passed it.

And....we have received another award from those handsome Goldies, Paco and Milo, thanks so much you two, we heart your blog too!

We'd like to pass this award on to the blogs we love....Honey the Great Dane, Jazz & Dixie, Kess, Haley & Bailey, Niamh, Temptide, Huey & Higgins, River & Gang, Cocoa & Barley, Lois Lane, The Harty Family, Nala, Jasper Pug, Xsara, Diesel & Marvin, Mino, Sugar, Dannan and last but not least The Gennasus Gang
