True Colours, Cody Wins, Tags and More....

It's True Colours Thursday again. Already! This week's theme is SCARLET, which is pretty appropriate for most of this post...even the tags are red! To play along visit our lovely hostess, Blue :D

My first car was a red VW Beetle....I loved it but it didn't feel the same way and we parted company after i'd parted with too much cash!

You don't see many of these old red phone boxes around any more....this one and the post box next to it (obviously) are in Pluscarden, there is also one in Roseisle Village.

The now famous blankie....part of it was sent across the Big Pee to Rosie's Sweetie.

And who could forget the red noses?

Which brings us nicely to our next item....

Winner of the Red Snooter Photo contest is Cody! Well done on a great snooter shot Cody, a prize will be winging it's way to you soon! In second place was Sue's Portuguese Water Dogs with their funny snooter shot. Again, thank you to everyone who entered and made this a fun contest....there were many great entries.

Gabbi has been tagged by Ludo with the Life is Grand Award. Thanks Ludo!

She has to list five things which make life grand....are you ready Gabs? Yup.

  1. Life is grand because I get to run free on a beautiful beach every day.
  2. Life is grand because I have made lots of lovely friends through our blog (and I might even have found a boyfriend or two!)
  3. Life is grand because my humans adore and spoil me.
  4. Life is grand when you have a juicy bone to chew on.
  5. Life is grand when you are a good girl....not so much when you are a bad girl, but i'm usually a good girl, so life IS generally grand!

I would like to tag some of our new friends....Asta, Cookie & Cinnamon, Thunder, Dakota & Phantom, Clive and Sammie....have fun guys....but only play if you want to :o)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Next, our friend Hero gave us the Honest Tag award. Thanks Hero! We have played this twice already (and turned it down once) but it was a while ago and so much has happened since then!
We have to list 10 honest things about ourselves.....
  1. Alfie has been taught to shut doors, Mum is trying to get him to close the front door once he comes in from the garden....probably never going to happen though!
  2. He is a little TOO good at opening doors though....especially when one of the ladies is in season when he turns into a MONSTER!
  3. Our sofa is big enough to fit five humans on it but we manage to hog it all....every night!
  4. When our Dad gets up in the morning he lets us go through to see our Mum, Rosie and Alfie go under the covers and snuggle at her feet. Gabbi and Snoop usually stay on the sofa.
  5. Rosie likes to lick people's feet and hands, but mostly feet.
  6. Thanks to this blog we now have an extended family, including our Aunts Martha and Bailey Basset.
  7. Rosie and Petey are in love, they go on exotic dates and send each other parcels.
  8. Alfie and Mason Dixie are in love, they sometimes double-date with Rosie & Petey, they also exchange naughty pics of each other!
  9. I registered with Scooby the Love Doctor and have a couple of admirers, Ludo is one of them....I think....*blush*
  10. Snoop claims to have shared a smoochy moment with a lady dog in the Rainbowwow Room but is not telling who!
We are supposed to tag others to play this but we really don't know anyone who hasn't played yet....if you want to play feel free!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

While writing this post, this arrived in our email, it's from our brand new friend Checkers, it even has our name on it....thanks Checkers!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We're a day late with this, that silly old hen forgot all about it until after she'd done the WW post and it was a busy day after that.
Yesterday, April Fools' Day, was the 3rd anniversary of when we brought Alfie home! It seems like only yesterday we made the long trip to Birmingham to collect our new boy, but at the same time it feels like he's always been here! Right from the start our Mum pestered Alfie's breeder for photos....and considering how busy she must have been, she delivered!
This is the first time we ever clapped eyes on him, think he would have been about 2 weeks old here.
Then this....can you guess which is our Alfie?
Then these....awww, look at his mushed-up face!
Coming home....aged 9 weeks, 1st April 2007....
His favourite sleeping position then....
....is still his favourite sleeping position!
He hogged the computer from an early age....
Something wrong with the floor, Alf??
He always was a clown....
And still makes us laugh every day!
But what a hunk!
Happy Gotcha Day Alfie-Boy!
Was there any sign of Dr Who at the telephone box - or was that blue?!
Congratulations on your Awards and well done to Cody - a worthy winner.
Happy gotcha day to Alfie - absolutely loving his puppy pics!!!
Of course Alfie you are now a handsome 3 yrs old and some very mature and thoughtful poses there. We have a postcard someone once sent with a basset sitting on a shelf - that is such a brilliant shot.
Yes life is grand for all you lucky beagles! Glad that you are finding life grand Gabbi - liked your reasons!
Have a great day
love
Martha & Bailey xx
PS We didn't look at your 'bits' Alfie - I mean what is your mum doing posting those!!! We are starting a Playdog magazine - would you mind featuring?
Hey! Mommy learned to drive in a blue VW bug just like that (well, it had a sunroof, but that's about the only difference) so she was very happy to see your red car!
Lots of well-deserved awards. And we loved the new Honest listing, especially #7. (Make sure those Italian boys read that one, okay? With their kisses and love and "is all okay for Rosie?" Grrrrrrrrr.)
And Alfie—Happy Gotcha Day! Mommy bought her first apartment back in Boston on April 1 and always thought it was kind of funny. Does that mean your birthday is around mine in February? Those puppy pictures made Mommy squee. Man you had some big paws! I like how the color of your face changed, just like mine.
Okay, gotta go convince Mommy to move away from the computer and GIVE ME MY BREAKFAST!
Your pal,
Petey
P.S. How is MY Rosie Posie this morning? We sure fooled a lot of pups yesterday, didn't we? hehehehe
Me, I'm just a fool in love....
Wooo Alfie, loved the pictures of such a fun loving doggie.Especially you as a little pup! So cute! well anyway, Snoop seems to be the one after my heart, I think he got a little carried away the other night.... sigh....
Mom wants to know if you spotted Dr. Who too, she sees those red phone boxes and immediately thinks of the Original Dr. Who from the 70's with the long scarf, she had one made like that too. Silly Moms.
You just can't beat puppy pics. Adorable!
My 1st car was a red Beetle, too! Only mine had red wheels to match. Don't be jealous. ;)
We loved seeing the story of the arrival of Alfie. We are pretty sure he is the one in the back right of that photo looking right at the camera as if to say, I better be going home to be a Dughallmor Beagle.
The reds were very nice. Mom was especially interested in the phone booth - she has one exactly like that in her Dickens Village Christmas collection.
Congrats on all your awards and thanks for the tag. We are thrilled to do it.
Well, we had all kinds of important congratulations to pass along, then Mom saw Alfie's baby pix and it was all over. She STOLE the computer from us and wouldn't let us back on! Oh, it was all "Alfie this" and "Alfie that" and "OMG, look at how ADORABLE he was and is!" Sigh. What's a Sibe to do?
I must admit - you've "got it", Alfie. Seriously. You're the bees knees. The cat's pajamas! All that stuff and more! Happy Homecoming Day!
Props to you Alfie, Sola thinks you are quite a looker too! Your human did a great job with the scarlet meme this week, make sure you tell her ;)
The markings on his face gave it away - he was and is a very handsome pup. Mom just loves beagles. One of her daughters had one but he was not a nice pup. Problem was the guy she got him from lied about his age. He was supposed to be 8 weeks old and the vet estimated at most 5 weeks. He really lacked a lot of early socialization skills and turned into a fear biter:( He had a face a lot like Alfie. He was a sweetie to his Mom and our Mom but did not do well with men or small kids.
