Food Thieves and Big Ears

Hello furries and peeps! We've been tagged by our good friends Cocoa and Barley to spill the beans (haha, geddit?) on our food stealing antics.

Sorry it's taken us so long to post this, Beans....being greedy Beagles our Mum had lots of material to look through for this tag and some of the photos are old. (and small?!)

First up, Alfie...well, he has better manners than he used to and rarely steals food now (but he still loves to rummage in the bin). This cheeky photo was taken when he was just a pup.

However, he is the only one of us who's tall enough to counter-surf and in the past has stolen various items including a pack of butter and a treacle tart which was about to go in the oven....he was kind enough to share it with Rosie & Gabbi though. And he does lick Nanny's BBQ till it sparkles whenever we're at her house!

Now Gabbi.....Queen Drool, she doesn't really steal food either, she just sits and stares at you...the only giveaway is the juicy chops....drip drip drip....

Gabbi was our only entry for Honey's drooling contest!

Rosie is a different kettle of fish. Just the other day (think it was the same day we got this tag) the humans were scoffing an Indian takeaway and Mum had a bit of Naan bread on her knee....Rosie snuck up on her and gingerly got the very, very edge of it between her gnashers....she nearly got away with it too until Mum swiped her away....too bad Rosie!

She'd steal the food right out of your mouth, this girl....so you better eat with your pie-hole shut! Once the whole family were on a day out and had a picnic packed. They went into a shop for 5 minutes (and left the picnic in the same car as 4 Beagles....duuuh). About an hour later they stopped to eat the picnic and discovered it was gone. One look at Rosie's enormous belly told the tale....it was so full she was crying! She'll eat just about anything too, doesn't have to be food....she steals socks, especially from the laundry bin....shoes, she wrecked one of the human sissy's high heels the other day (this pleased Dad!) but her favourite has to be tennis balls....she can devour one in mere minutes...wait and see!

And last but definitely not least....Steel Bellied Snoop. This fella is the master, King of Thieves!

On his list of pilfering successes to date are: A few loaves of bread, several dozen unknown food and non-food items from our Nanny's house -she underestimates the greed, we used to regularly find him wandering about on top of her dining table- he's not allowed in anymore -instead he stays in the garden hoovering up the crumbs from the bird table that had to be moved so he could no longer reach it, a punnet of strawberries, a victoria sponge cake, more than one but less than ten Easter eggs over the years, half of someone's birthday cake (we got to him halfway through, it was chocolate flavour). If one of the humans is holding a biscuit or something he will casually walk past and swipe it straight out of their hand. He once did this to Dad, who had a doughnut poised, ready to take a bite but also glued to the telly (anyone spring to mind? Homer J.??) Snoop swooped in and rescued it....yoink! "Why you little........." But the worst thing Snoop has ever eaten was an almost entire pack (one dose short) of Ex-Lax chocolate....he ate everything, we caught him just as he was polishing off the instructions. Mum was beside herself...on the phone to the out-of-hours vet in hysterics, thought he was going to die....the vet was mildly concerned too, told the humans they were in for a messy night.....Snoop barely farted but he was shitting foil for a few days!

All four of us are guilty of destroying Paw it Forward parcels which contained treats and were all packaged up and ready for the Post Office and all four of us steal nextdoor's dog's bones from his garden....well, his Dad should shut the gate, shouldn't he?!?

So now we're suposed to tag five others to play...hmm, don't know if we can manage five, you're all so much better behaved than us....let's see....ooh, we know:

Eric, Chester, Joey & Tanner, Dennis, Scotty, Sophie & Hazel and finally that little cutie Maya, she's bound to have some tales to tell already! If you have time and want to play yippee...if not, no worries ;o)

Thanks for tagging us Cocoa & Barley, it was fun... but we're hungry now....

We heard about another cool contest. Bentley & Lexus are hosting Most Earrisistible Ears.

Munchkin Memoirs

Well, our long ears get into all sorts of states, especially when we're zooming, just look!

Rosie

Snoop

Gabbi

And when we're catching zzzz s

Rosie

We can't work out which of Alfie's pics to enter, his ears are always all over the place....will you help us? We're going to put a poll in our sidebar so you can help us choose.

1) Yoga

2) Playful

3) Windy

4) Crazy

5) Demented

If you haven't already checked out Munchkin Memoirs why not pop in and say hi....and maybe enter a picture yourself, the contest is open for a couple of weeks yet.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Oooh, what's this? A parcel....addressed to Rosie & Petey? Mmmm, smells like jellied eels and Wimbledon....that must mean it's from Old London Town! Quick Rosie, open it up!
Ahhh, it IS from London....from our dear square friend Eric, Petey's bestest mate! It's a wedding present.....matching heart shaped tennis balls, isn't that sweet?
Rosie gets straight to work on them....chomp chomp....
....and more goodies for Gabbi, Alfie & Snoop....chocolate favour tennis balls, ha...they look like profiteroles!
Thank you furry much sweet Eric for the cute pressies, you are kind :D
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Now, you're wondering....what else have we been up to since we last posted yonks ago....?

Well, in between all the rain we've been on lots more walks. Some at Duffus (our new favourite place to zoom) and some in the park and up the hill into the forest.

We also had to take care of the lodgers....

Ugh!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Some of you might know that our Mum makes rosettes, well she's only gone and given them their very own blog.....hmpph, you'd think they were, like...alive or exciting or something. Anyway, if you want a look at why our Mum can't spend 24/7 doing our blog for us, here's the reason....they even have to share OUR email....huh!
Oh, those lovely BEAGLE EARS!!!
Loved all the pix and stories. Did you mention a kettle of fish? Mmm... fish!
Sadly for us, our great sister Jesse was known as "Ramekin Lips" as she used to steal ramekins of butter off the counter all the time. Why do I say "sad"? Because after about the third time (Mom's a slow learner), Mom decided to put the butter in the fridge. As a result of this, we have no access. How horrible is THAT?!?!
Hi Beagles,
I just love it when other dogs posts about their food stealing misdemeanours. I can't help but think that its helps Gail to get my occasional chocolate 'borrowing' episodes into perspective. (And no, I didn't get sick either, although apparently I should have).
Cheers, H.
You guys have great ears. They fly and flap and are very expressive. Our mom just looked at your rosettes and they reminded her how Fudge acted stupid last year and missed getting his title and rosette. She's giving him another chance in October.
Hi Guys - finally had a chance to come back and read your post properly! Gosh, just reading your list of things you'd eaten makes me feel nauseous! And my human laughed out loud at that story about the picnic basket...hmm, yes, you DO have very trusting (or very dim) humans, don't you?
What a cool contest - I must go and check it out too! I like No. 3 - the Windy Ears best on Alfie!
Hey - guess what? I finally tried Agility! I went to my first class last week - come over and check out my video! Do you think I will EVER do the tunnel (if Hsin-Yi does it slowly with clicker) or do you think it is just simply too small and unfair to expect me to try it??
