Sunday Scenery and Haggis

Today's Sunday Scenery shots are old photographs, the first two taken a couple of years ago while rolling Easter eggs at nearby Duffus Castle. The two beach shots were taken at the secluded beach at the edge of Culbin Forest, the other side of the Bay from where we usually walk, Findhorn can be seen on the other side of the water. The last one was taken at the top of a hill (whose name none of us can remember!) that gives a panoramic view from Lossiemouth in the West to Buckie in the East, I think this was taken even before we had Alfie. All these photos were taken on a Sunday so they count for SS, right?

Today is the birthday of Robert Burns and is celebrated by having a Burns Supper, typically Haggis (of course) neeps (turnips, usually mashed) and tatties (potatos, also mashed) washed down with copious amounts of whisky! (don't forget the liver salts!) To read more about the life and work of our great poet, click on his picture below.

Happy Robert Burns Day!

These document some great memories, I bet. Thanks for some Sunday Scenery from the past. :0) I've never had haggis, and I've heard mixed reports on it. But I like turnips and potatoes so that would be good for me.

My heart's in the highlands,
My heart is not here,
My heart's in the highlands a-chasing the deer . . .

Thats courtesy of my Mom who needs to come to Scotland soon. Keep watch for her, please and feed her lots of haggis, whatever that is.

Kisses,
Stella

Hi!
I saw you were awarded by Nigel and had to come over to see your blog! How fabulous. My mom's last dog was named Snoopie. He was a beagle terrier mix so she has a thing for beagles. How fun.. four! I could have helped with the Easter egg hunt!

Now why did Stella have to quote those lines--don't you know that now they will go round and round in my head?

Lovely pictures...I would love to see more of the stonework there.

Was it Bin Hill near Garmouth? Looks a bit like it and I think it is the ONLY hill in the area!
We've missed out on our haggis today, might have to have a belated one.

Wonderful shots all -- how can you go wrong with a beagle on the beach?

I'm with you on the neeps & tatties (let's not stint on the whiskey!), but I'll pass on the haggis, thanks. Unless of course there's plenty more whiskey first! :-)

I hope you'll stop by my Sunday Scenery!

Nice scenery! We celebrate Robert Burns' birthday here. My mom gets to sing some Scottish songs like Auld Lang Syne--(but a different prettier tune) at the hotel dinner. She said she won't eat the haggis but everything else goes well with whiskey. I've never had whiskey, smells weird to me. bol

River

Definitely beautiful Sunday Scenery! Hmmmm, haggis?? My Mom says she thinks she has heard of this but she's not sure. The neeps and tatties would be dee-lish though! Hope you are enjoying Robert Burns day! :)

Nala

What beautiful photos! Our favorite Scottish poet is still Marvin, the Hollow Hound, though. Seriously. He's the profound hound!
