New Friends and Injuns

Today's walk at Findhorn.....

This girl was lovely, she's a Rhodesian Ridgeback X called Ruby, I know these are a bit blurry but I just loved her ears!

No sooner had she disappeared around the point, a man came along with his RR boy and a Scottish Terrier, I didn't get photos, I always feel as though I should ask people's permission to photograph their dogs and they seemed in a bit of a hurry, maybe catch them next time!

It really is starting to look like San Diego here!

Seals on the other shore, one or two in the water.

Wait a minute, you're no seal, you're just a poser!

This Border Collie was very playful, like a puppy....he was play-bowing and bouncing around! His owner said he was a rescue that they'd been having trouble homing because of his age....I asked how old he was....and he's fifteen! Wow, that's like.....105 in dog years!!! His name's Jasper and apparently he loves football but was more interested in the rock he'd dug up!

Later on Mum went for her last bit of Christmas shopping in Elgin (just as well it was the last bit, there's no money left!!)....these Native Americans were performing in the High street....not very Christmassy but good anyway. We didn't buy the CD but filmed them for a while before giving them our last pennies....enjoy!

On a completely different subject, Honey Dew and Sampson got some really cute little Basset Hound ornaments sent to them and they reminded me of some Beagle cupcakes i'd seen somewhere so I had to go and find the link....check these out, they're totally awesome!

More pals

Today at Roseisle we met some friends from class........you've met Sue and the Gennasus gang already, she had Jana, Louis and Teasel (mmm, says Alf!) with her, but Jenny was also there today. Jenny is one of our lovely obedience trainers from Spey Valley, she has three German Shepherds........Brint, Keira and Sadie, she also has an adorable Pug called Jasper. Jasper is actually Jenny's daughter's dog and she's just started a blog for him......check him and the GSDs out here. (Because I stupidly didn't take any photos of the 10 -yes, 10!! dogs all getting along fine.) Sue took some but even with pilchard cake dangling we couldn't get them all together!

Black sky and even blacker sea!

They couldn't hack it on the beach (not really, they got there a while before me and had finished their walk, lol) so I walked back to the cars with them. Just then we met a girl with a Rhodesian Ridgeback (I love these) so he and Alfie wrestled for a bit while Rosie circled the pair of them barking and Snoop carried on sniffy tail-wagging. It's the first time we've met him and hopefully we'll bump into each other again as he was up for a bit of a carry-on! His name's Brock and what a lovely boy!

A new sparring buddy.

We went down onto the beach, it was very windy but i've been there in worse!

Flying ears, lips.............

.....and tongues!

Gabbi hasn't featured on the blog much lately so I thought i'd take some photos of her when we got home.........but she wasn't playing!

Ain't she sweet, sitting at her favourite look-out?

But she's definitely in a huff, if looks could kill!

Long Weekend

It's about time I reported on the weekend's events............
On Saturday morning we drove down to an equestrian centre in Fife which is where Perthshire CS held their Open Show. I only had Alfie entered as originally a friend was going to take him while I took the girls to SBC. As Perth show clashed with Scottish Beagle there were no breed classes for Beagles so Alfie was in an NSC class........he came 3rd out of a really strong class of mostly Ridgebacks (think the judge may have been a Ridgeback lady), it was a Saluki that came first and a Ridgeback second.

Once we had finished there we drove to Rigside for the Scottish Beagle Club open show. There was a large entry of hounds and unfortunately neither Rosie or Gabbi were placed in their class. The bitch that went Best in Show was beautiful, well done to her and the other winners! Results and photos can be seen here. While you're there, check out Alfie's brag on the news page!

Rosie & Gabbi at SBC

After leaving Rigside we met up with our Terrier friends to get ready for the show in Arbroath the next day.
Rosie won her graduate class and went up against Alfie for Best of Breed as he had won the open class (Gabbi came 3rd in open). Alfie won BOB and I was overjoyed when he also won the Hound Group, my boy!! His first ever Group win and the first time in the Best in Show line-up for us. My friend's Terrier also won her Group so we were in for BIS together, though she's been there before and was far more calm than me, I was up on the ceiling somewhere!!

Alfie also won the Haughmill Trophy for Best Beagle, he has won trophies at previous shows but I always forget to take them home........this time I remembered so it will be engraved with his name, nice to see who's won it in previous years too!

His win on Sunday means he's now only four points from gaining his ShCM, so fingers crossed for this weekend, we travel down to Fort William for Lochaber's open show on Sunday.
All in all we had a good weekend, tiring but enjoyable and well worth it!

It was made even more tiring for me............on our way home from Arbroath we decided to take the dogs to the beach at St Cyrus to let them stretch out and let off some steam, I got some great photos.........but when I got home and thought i'd upload them I realised i'd lost my phone, oh no! All my numbers and photos! I thought I knew where i'd dropped it, i'd stooped to get through the fence, so I thought i'd go back and look for it the next day..........a five hour round trip! The dogs and I had spent pretty much three days solid in the car, so all credit to their wonderful temperaments...........and a cocktail of caffeine and chocolate for me!

I found my phone........right where I thought it would be!! Can't believe it, and lucky for me it had been dry overnight, how jammy!

The beach photos are of when we walked at St Cyrus (beautiful place). Thanks to Karen and to Blanche and Allan for sending the other photos.
