It's A Wrap

Gabbi

3rd July 2007 ~ 24th April 2011

On Easter Sunday, after a brief but very aggressive battle with kidney failure and despite the best efforts of her wonderful vet, we had to say goodbye to our darling Gabbi. She was our youngest at only three years old. Our hearts are broken.

Her ashes will be scattered at Duffus Castle, her favourite place and our daily walk.

I had always hoped to come back to blogging someday, but my heart just isn't in it, especially now....it wouldn't feel right to continue without Gabbi, so sadly this will be our last post, though the blog will remain, I could never delete it. Thankfully, we can keep up with many of our blogging buddies on the dreaded......Facebook!

"Although my tail, it's last has waved,

From pain and suffering i've been saved."

Goodnight sweetheart....until we meet again xx

*******

We'd just like to say also....thanks so much to all who followed our antics over the past few years....we have had SO much fun with this blog, as well as following everyone else's......all the adventures, the memes, the romances, the globetrotting, the contests, the pay it forwards etc......we have a collection of things that we'll always treasure.....we've made some life-long friends (even got to meet some!) and have lots of very precious memories xx

Perfect Day

Today has been a perfect day......
After lazing around in the sunshine eating bones and watching the baby bunnies in the garden this morning, this afternoon we went to Findhorn for a walk.

Our Dad came with us and threw sticks.

It was even nice enough to go into the water!

On the way home we stopped off at Burghead, Mum wanted some photos of the harbour, but look what was following the little boats..........a large pod of dolphins. These were the few pics Mum got of them, she had the camera set to rapid burst but you still need to get the timing right.....we have around 400 or so photos of just sea! How cool to see these though :o)

Then we were treated to a gorgeous light show. These are all taken from our back garden and straight from the camera, no editing (apart from cropping), the colours were amazing!

As we said........today was perfect.

Here are some random photos......our new local walk, the liney, just out the back of our house.

Funny faces.

Fun chases.

Extreme bitey-face!

In the garden.

Some birds, one dead...oops!

Some passing boats...and rigs.

These are the colourful beach huts at Hopeman.

Lots more photos to come.........and some romantic reunions :o))

Bloodsuckers

Hello furries and peeps! We've been away from Blogland for so long, but after visiting only a few blogs today we realise that there's alot of heartache going on and it's mostly been caused by ticks.

There's Digby who has had a very bad reaction to a tick bite........and Petey's HHI friend Lulubelle who has Rocky Mountain Tick Fever. Paws crossed they both make a full recovery, and soon.

Our Mum has a friend who has suspected Lyme disease and she's really suffering with it. This awful disease is caused by being bitten by an infected tick. It is easily treated in it's early stages with antibiotics but in later stages can attack the nervous system and cause all sorts of terrible symptoms.....and all due to a long-forgotten bite from a tiny bloodsucking critter!

This month is Lyme Disease Awareness Month.....and we weren't aware of how bad it can be until we Googled it. You can buy one of these pins to support research into the condition here,
but the best thing you can possibly do is to prevent further spread of this and other diseases by treating your pets with an appropriate product........go and see your vet for more information.... and do it TODAY! Other measures you can take are garlic supplements (and give your pets pet-safe ones) and to brush your pets, especially dogs after walking, and regular bathing with an anti flea and tick shampoo.

Lecture over.....we're off to do more visiting....it's great to have decent service at last!

Dingle, Dangle, Dongle

Well, we know it looks like our Mum has abandoned her blog and everyone else's in favour of Facebook....and to a certain extent, she has....but when your internet connection is like this most of the time........

....it's the only convenient way to get our photos online and keep in touch with some of our friends! Since moving house, we are around 9 miles from the nearest library.........we thought it would be better during and just after the move to carry on using the mobile broadband....however, just recently we've had a few comments on FB which made us realise how long it's been since we had proper service, one that lets us visit all our bloggie friends.

So, we thought we'd try and visit some of them, starting with Rosie's long neglected hubby Petey , here's how it went....

When that didn't work, we thought we'd try and do a blog post....

....maybe put some of our recent photos on....

*sigh*
Sometimes even Facebook is unaccessable....(not very often, admittedly!)

So, She ended up in the library this morning to do this post....and let you know what's been happening. (Mum's playing taxi to middle sis who has exams at the moment, so she had to go to town anyway and had an hour to kill.)

The upside of this is that it gave our Mum a much needed kick up the bum to get a real internet service ordered and throw the stupid dongle into the harbour, so as of 10th May (yes, everything takes an age here!) we will be back online....but this time we're not making any promises, we'll just wait and see how it goes.......one thing's for certain though......there'll be photos galore.........and hopefully no more moaning about crappy internet!

New Crib......

Well, here we are in our new surroundings, we've been busy exploring and want to show you some cool stuff......ready?
Come on then, follow me!
We've only moved a few miles along the coast but it's so different. Findhorn and Roseisle beaches are very flat but here it's much more dramatic! See the building in the top left of the picture? Well that's Burghead and Roseisle is on the other side of that.
Here we have lots of cliffs, coves and caves to explore........and giant insects in the sea??
Thank dog that's far away! Ah, this is more like it.....She calls it beach art.....whatever dude, we call it somewhere to leave our pee-mail, hahaha!
This one has pretty patchwork all over it..........ok, enough with the stones already............duuh, take more photos of us!
That's better...........tag, you're it!
Well, even though we've moved, the small big 'uns still have to be driven to school which means we still get to go on some of our favourite walks.....
.....like Findhorn......see the seal? Gabbi likes to tell him off :o))
But wherever we are.........Snoop always seems to end up up to his neck in "it"!
Uh, 'scuse me.......don't I get a mention?? I've moved too you know! Do you like my tree stump? It's just outside the dog run.........the Beagles love it when I pose for them..at least I think that's what all the noise is about.............bravo Gus, they bark....you're the best!
Sometimes I like to sit on top of this thing too.......and scratch the roof with my awesome claws, that drives them mad......it's their kennel........bwahahaha! How's that for a view though?! I mean there are usually at least a dozen bunnies in that field..not to mention squillions of meeces!
Oh! That was stressful! I thought that cat was never gonna shut up, he thinks he owns the place! Maybe I should practise my doga...............aaarrroooohhhhhhmmmmmmm....
....peace out baby!

Uncertainty and Unexpected Kindness

So, OK.......we've been pretty much AWOL for a long time now apart from the occasional bumper guilt post. There are a number of reasons for this, the main one being that we have changed our internet provider again and the service is soooooooooo slooooooooooow...........even slower than the library if that's possible! (Mum thought it might have had something to do with the snow, and also the busy time over Christmas) But anyway, it means that blogs take ages (sometimes half an hour) to load up and even then we can't see videos or Cboxes, or even all the pictures....sometimes we can't comment. Up until today we have not been able to post pictures on our own blog (and we're not entirely sure this post will publish with the photos we've put on).* Constantly trying to play catch-up, losing touch with people and furries we've come to care about and forever apologising for our lengthy absences. All of this has turned blogging into something of a chore, which it really shouldn't be!
*Mum had to go to the library to finish uploading the photos today :o~

Anyway, nuff moaning........today we have a few reasons to blog......firstly, wanna see some snow? (think you can enlarge them)

These two pictures of Ben Wyvis were both taken on Christmas day. The above one was taken from our kitchen window in the morning....the big chimney is the Benromach distillery....and the one below was taken from our Nanny's back garden in the afternoon....you can just see the rigs at the mouth of the Cromarty Firth.

We found a new ornament for our Christmas tree, something that Pamela, Kira the BeaWootiful's very talented Mom made for us a while back.......it's a cute ceramic Beagle.....and of course, it wouldn't be a Beagle until it had torn the fairy lights from the tree! We LOVE it.......and it's about time we were represented properly on the tree without Alfie having to add his own kind of decoration!

This morning we were surprised when the postie knocked on the door.......a parcel? For us?? Surely there must be a mistake....Santa's already been! Mum recognised the return address straight away and when she opened it up she almost burst into tears.....inside was a lovely toy for us........

..........a card with a very pretty lady on it, she's called Lola......(Mum loves this picture so much she's going to frame it!)

.......and best of all (and this is what she was bubbling about)......

.....the most beautiful handmade cushion with a cross-stich of a Beagle on the front! Isn't this gorgeous? We knew Sue was creative, not to mention extremely kind, but this is something else! The detail is so intricate, it must have taken ages and it will be treasured. Sue, I just don't know what to say......your talent and generosity has stunned me....thank you so much ♥

So now we're feeling even more guilty....not only for not visiting everyone, including Sue and the Porties for so long, but for the fact that we are so disorganised........we planned to send Christmas cards to everyone we have addresses for and do an e-card for everyone else.....we planned to send parcels of love to our sweetie-pies (we started a parcel for Kira back in the summer time and it's still in the drawer!) and we didn't do any of it, infact SHE didn't write a single card! (Mum says she's saving the trees and that's her excuse but we know she just left it all too late)

We've had alot of snow in the past 24hrs, on the news last night it said that skiers in the Cairngorms are enjoying the best season since the 1960's! (We saw 5 RAF mountain rescue units heading out there last night, hope everyone's staying safe!) The photo above was taken on the way home from picking big sis up from work....this is, believe it or not, the main road between Aberdeen and Inverness and it's even worse today, Mum couldn't even take the girl to work, had to ask a friend with a 4x4!

Special hugs to Petey and his Mom today xx

We hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and we wish you all the best for the coming year!
